Features & Reviews

Phone :
Nokia N72 fascinates with its truly genuine design and construction conception. This first impression, however, is not always positive; many people find the phone rather repulsive and not at all attractive. May be this is the phone that has earned the most controversial user opinions
Size : Measuring 108.8mm x 53.3mm x 21.8mm and weighing 124 grams it is not the smallest of fashion mobiles and feels like holding a fat wallet to your ear. The Nokia N72 is a fixed keypad phone and is all the better for it, making for a large well spaced keypad and a huge 2.1 inch (176 x 208 pixels) TFT colour screen |
Display : The 262k colour TFT display is excellent too and does justice to the photography and multimedia aspects of the device. |
Camera : With its 2 Megapixel camera, the N72 shoots above-par stills for a mid-range phone and offers a raft of options for managing, printing and sharing photos including Bluetooth and PictBridge for the latter two. Memory, you ask? A bit short |
Battery : Battery life is a bit of an overstated area as during our review period we had to charge the battery several times despite only average use (around 30 minutes of calls per day). Nokia claim a whopping 350 hours of standby which we found reduced dramatically should you make any serious use of the MP3 playback or smartphone features. A fair assumption would be 3 days on standby with moderate use |
Multimedia : Although the music player itself is quite alright, audio quality is distinctly average, while the reliance on RS-MMC memory cards - plus an inability to accept these in size larger than 128 MB - puts quite a dent in the MP3 department. |
Memory : Memory: 20 Mbytes plus 128 MB Reduced Size MMC card.\ The phone comes with 20 Mbytes of shared memory & included with the phone is a 128 Mbytes MultiMediaCard™. The MultiMediaCard™ (MMC) is a hot swap memory card which can expand the phones memory capability. |
Networking : Network Frequency GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 The N72 has a wide range of connectivity options. Support for Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0 is included. A good web browser application is built into the phone, and there is full email support, including an attachment viewer for viewing MS Office documents. Functionally, the N72 is almost the same as the N70, but without 3G support. It's a nicer design in many ways, with an improved keypad (but still small). The user interface is a little faster too (but still slow), so if you won't miss 3G, the N72 could be a better option. As with all the other Nseries phones, there are software glitches and the phone isn't recommended unless you really need the smartphone functionality |
