Features & Reviews

Phone : Nokia is one of these manufacturers, which let into the market new models, differing in comparison to the mass perception for a phone. A bright example is Nokia 7500 Prism, which is a part of the new series of devices of the company with a different design and shapes. The buttons of the device are triangular in shape, as the design of the device is subordinated to this shape, which by chance or not reminds us of a processed diamond. Most probably in this way Nokia wants to underline that fact that the telephone differs from everything known and standard and its idea is to offer something different from everything we have seen. |
Size : The 7500 isn't called the Prism because it's made of glass, nor is it called the Prism because it refracts light into a rainbow. It has that name, at least we assume, because of its triangular-shaped keys. Nokia is no stranger to irregular keypads, having produced phones with buttons arranged in a circle, so this arrangement doesn't come as a surprise. Yes, it's eye-catching, but usability was another story (more on that later). Fashioned in basic black, the candy bar Prism has a sleek and stylish look. And at 4.29 inches by 1.72 inches by 0.57 inche, it's relatively compact and trim. There's no distracting external antenna and, except for the plastic rear cover, the phone has a solid feel. The pattern on the keys extends to the phone's rear face, where triangles in two shades come together in an attractive design. The rear-facing flash is also triangular, while the camera lens is shaped like a diamond. There's also a small speaker on the rear face; we've never been fans of rear-facing speakers since they direct sound away from you. |
Display : The 7500 features a similar design to the 7900, but loses the 3G capabilities of its sibling and makes use of more traditional TFT technology for its display. The handset's display still features QVGA resolution and also is capable of displaying 16 million colors. |
Camera : For your imaging needs, the 7500 offers a 2-megapixel camera that takes JPEG pictures in six resolutions, from 1,600x1,200 down to 160x120. You get a variety of camera settings including three quality settings, five color effects, a night mode, an adjustable white balance, and an 8x zoom. There's no brightness setting, but the flash works remarkably well as camera phones go. On the other hand, there's a self-portrait mirror for vanity shots. The camcorder shoots videos in two resolutions (176x144 and 128x96) with sound. Other options are similar to those of the still camera, and you can mute the sound if you wish. The short mode lasts about 15 seconds, but you can also shoot longer clips, depending on the available memory. Photo quality was mostly good; colors were bright and objects were distinct, but our pictures were slightly grainy. For saving your work, the handset offers 30MB of shared memory. |
Battery : The 7500 has a rated battery life of just 2.8 hours talk time, which is quite low for both a Nokia and a GSM phone. And unfortunately, our tested talk time came to just 2 hours. Standby time is promised at 11.6 days and music playback time should be nine hours. According to FCC radiation tests, the Prism has a digital SAR rating of 0.61 watt per kilogram. |
Multimedia : The 7500 Prism is a music orientated mobile phone which comes complete with a built in FM radio, visual radio feature & a music player. The FM radio comes with a visual radio feature which allows the user to view information on their screen as well as listening to their favourite FM radio station. The music player comes with a changeable skins feature which allows the user to change the skin to suit their style whilst listening to their music. The phone also supports album art which allows the user to view their album covers which makes music selection easy for the user. The user can enjoy approximately nine hours of music playback which means hours of fun & music entertainment on their new mobile phone. The Nokia 7500 Prism supports MP3, true tones & polyphonic ringing tones so therefore the user can change their ringing tone to suit their mood |
Memory : The phone comes with thirty Mbytes of built in memory & the phone has a memory slot which allows the user to easily add a MicroSD™ memory card. The phone supports a memory card up to two Gbytes in size |
Networking : Nokia 7500 Prism is a triband (900 /1800/1900 MHz or 850/1800/1900 MHz) GSM/EDGE and this limits its worldwide usage. Unfortunately, the phone does not supports UMTS and cannot work in 3G networks. The internet browser supports HTML/ XHTML and WAP 2.0. For local connectivity you can use both the Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR and the miniUSB 2.0 ports. |
Games : The phone comes with preloaded game which will get the user started with a great gaming experience on their phone which includes Sudoku, tower bloxx, music guess & snake III games. The user can download more games to suit their gaming taste which can be in the form of Java™ games. The user can stay in contact with friend, family or business colleagues using the email service which supports attachments, therefore the user can share their photos & video recording via email |
