Features     &     Reviews
Phone :

The Nokia 6270 is a 2G version of the Nokia 6280, although curiously it's larger and heavier than its 3G sister! It's a stylish slide-up phone with a polished aluminium finish and looks like it's intended to go head-to-head with Samsung's D600 slide phone.

Size :

Dimensions : 104mm x 50mm x 23mmWeight : 125g

Display :

Sporting a vivid 262K colour screen with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, the 6270 scores high in the display department. The large screen also enables the introduction of a concept dubbed the 'active standby' screen by Nokia, where shortcut icons, recent notes and FM radio status are neatly displayed and rapidly accessed. As with the recently reviewed Nokia 6111, the 6270 also offers Series 40 upgrades such as being able to mark several messages for simultaneous deletion. Minor improvements aside, however, the interface of the 6270 for the most part remains similar in look and feel to that of previous Nokia handsets.

Camera :

The Nokia 6270 has a 2 Megapixel camera, snapping stills of good quality in daylight and of adequate quality in darker environments. Aiming to assimilate the functions of a dedicated camera, the phone's display, which acts as a viewfinder, automatically switches to landscape mode when the camera is activated. Its various options are then easily adjusted by means of the action buttons and volume buttons, with the handset also offering video recording at 176 x 144 pixels. Both stills and videos can quickly be added to MMS messages from within the camera application.

Battery :

The phone offered approximately 3.5 hours of talktime and 6 days of standby time as compared to the claimed 5 hours and 10 days, respectively.

Multimedia :

    * Music player (MP3/AAC/MPEG4 formats)    * Handsfree stereo speakers with 3D sound    * FM stereo radio (Visual Radio)The 6270 has a media player that supports MP3, AAC and MPEG4 formats with stereo output. Output is via stereo speakers or the built-in stereo speakers with simulated 3D sound. There is also an FM radio with Visual Radio functionality. This lets you find out what song is playing, and information about the artist. The phone also supports voice commands, MP3 ringtones, Push to Talk, and has a voice recorder.

Memory :

The built-in memory of the device is relatively small at 9 Mbytes, but a 128 Mbyte memory card is supplied, and this can be expanded further.

Networking :

Network Frequency      GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900The 6270 supports full wireless Bluetooth connectivity, as well as USB and infra-red. Although there is no 3G compatibility, fast data downloads are possible using EDGE (up to 236.8 kbps). The 6270 has email with support for attachments.

Games :

Java games (3D Snake included)

performance :

The reception and voice quality of the Nokia 6270 both proved excellent
