Features & Reviews

Phone : The Motorola C168 is an entry level model phone that lacks the bells and whistles that most mobiles ship with today. It lacks just about everything else as well, making it suitable for absolute novices or those who want a cheap second phone. The first thing that will catch your eye about this unit its slim form factor. It's not at good looking as the RAZR by any means, but rather thin nonetheles. The phone is also big enough though, that we could comfortably cup it in one hand and still operate the controls. |
Size : The C168 is a lightweight (77 grams) and good-looking phone, at least when it is switched off. The thin profile and black-and-silver face provide a sophisticated look, and the numeral buttons are pleasingly tactile. However, although the phone is a mere 14mm in depth, it is relatively wide at 46mm, making it a bit uncomfortable to hold in one hand. One design downer is the set of FM headphones. The startling silver colour is hard on the eyes, and it's obvious that the headset has been made on the cheap. The large ear buds are also none too comfortable for small-eared users, and the stereo plug juts out from its port at an odd angle, making it likely to be accidentally yanked out when the phone is in a bag or pocket. Font size in the menus, text message composition and number entry is quite large. While this may be an advantage for older users, it doesn't make for a slick-looking interface, and the text size cannot be changed. The overall potential for customisation is pretty limited, and expanding the scant image library would require downloading, since there is no way of connecting the phone to a PC. |
Display : The phone comes with preloaded games which the user can add to by simply downloading more games of their choice. . The phone comes with an easy to use interface which allows the user to gain access to the phones functions with one click of the button. The phone comes with a speaker phone feature which allows the user to take calls over the phones speakers without holding their handset. The user can take part in a conference call which works like a meeting style call with up to six contacts per call. |
Battery : The removable 1000 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for 9 30 hours talk time or 340 hours standby, which is very good for battery's theoretical capacity.Charge time is about 150 minutes. |
Networking : Dual band 900/1800 MHz connectivity isn't all the Motorola C168 has to offer: there's also support for GPRS, SMS, and a range of applications such as Java MIDP 2.0, all of which laptop and handheld users will be pleased to learn is a breeze to utilize either by means of GPRS support is the fastest way to download files with your mobile, and spacious phone book. |
